Field Notes
Preparing ledger samples before a Taiwan diligence visit
Sample selection is where many fintech audit preparations lose a week. Teams pull “important” months instead of representative ones, or they export only the general ledger without the settlement files that explain the movement.
Start with the rails, not the calendar
List every product rail that moves customer money: card acquiring, wallet top-up, remittance, lending disbursement. For each rail, pick one ordinary day and one stressed day — a campaign spike, a bank holiday settlement lag, or a processor outage recovery. Samples from those days teach reviewers more than a quiet mid-month stretch.
Bundle evidence with the extract
Pair each sample with the bank statement line, processor report, and internal posting note. When those three sit in the same folder, walkthrough meetings move faster and fewer follow-up requests arrive after the session.
Language for mixed teams
In Taiwan, diligence rooms often mix Mandarin-speaking ops leads with English-language investor counsel. Caption folders in both languages where practical, and keep the narrative paragraphs short enough to translate without losing the control point.
